Welcome to Eckington First School

Welcome to Eckington Church of England First School

Welcome to our website

A message from our Headteacher:

I would like to welcome you to Eckington CE First School.  Eckington School is over 100 years old and has a very special place within the local community.  Eckington is one of the villages at the foot of Bredon Hill and we can see the hill clearly from our playground and the Malvbern Hills from the front of the school.  We are all very proud to be part of this lovely school sited at the heart of Eckington village. Our school thrives on the support surrounding it from the church, parents, governors and local community and everyone works together to create a warm positive experience for our children.  In addition, the 'Friends of Eckington School' (FOES) support us in many ways and this year, through their fundraising they will be helping us to refurbish our school hall.

At Eckington we aim to create a welcoming school where everyone feels a sense of belonging and parents are able to share in their children's learning.  We strive for happy, successful children who feel valued and cared for, children who achieve the very best that they can.  Our creative curriculum is rich and varied and our staff are committed to making the children feel challenged and included at all times.  Our forest school is now well established for our younger children and our older children recieve specialist music and sports lessons.  We celebrate their achievements and recognise their talents each week in our shared Friday morning assembly which is regularly supported by more than 40 parents and friends.  We have many extra curricular clubs and take full advantage of our wonderful surroundings.  In the summer KS2 children go bell-boating on the River Avon and the whole school walk up Bredon Hill for a picnic.  Our Ofsted Inspection in March 2006 confirmed that we are a 'good school with an outstanding curriculm'.  We have also just gained an Extended Services Certificate.

For me, working at Eckington School is like belonging to a small community of very caring people and it is a privilege to be part of such a community;  the children with their optimism and enjoyment of learning are a delight to teach.  We would like you to come and see for yourselves what a lovely school we have and I hope that our website will enable you to begin to feel just a little of what makes us special.
